A couple of years ago, we went to the New York Stock Exchange, and the place was crowded with construction equipment and the like.
As the news broke that the world’s largest construction company had sunk £3bn into its latest project in London, it was clear that the project was going to be built on a sea-bed.
It would be the biggest construction project in British history.
Now, it is happening on the Thames.
The plans were revealed in early February.
The Barge Thames, a massive new shipbuilding project in the port of Plymouth, is the first of many new and bigger projects that are set to be launched in the next year.
Its developers say that it will generate hundreds of thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of pounds in tax revenues.
The company is called the Barge Group and it is based in Plymouth.
The site is about 50 miles from the North Sea.
In the days before the collapse of the global financial system, there was little doubt that Britain’s massive industry would survive, that the UK could thrive and prosper.
Now that the financial crisis has receded and the economy is recovering, there are new opportunities for the UK to be a global centre of global construction and manufacturing.
The first wave of the Bigate Thames will be built from 2019 to 2021, with the main phase to be completed in 2021.
Construction began in 2007 and was completed in 2015.
Construction companies have been busy working on the project.
The barge is the largest shipbuilding in the world, capable of carrying around 2.2 million tonnes of materials.
The project will employ 1,200 people and is part of the Bristol-based company’s £3.5bn bid to build two new ships, one of which will be the world first to be called a super-tanker.
The other will be a luxury ship, which will also be a super tanker.

Its aim is to build three ships and build a new super-truck, as well as build a dock at a new shipyard in Southampton, and a new shipping terminal in Plymouth, in addition to its previous two ships.

A project like this can have huge benefits for the country, says David Evans, director of the Centre for Global Transport Studies, at the University of Bristol.

But the shipbuilding boom in the UK is not just about the barge.
There is a boom in new containerisation.
Containerisation is the growth of ships by container rather than ship, the shipping industry says.

They can take off from ports and can go wherever they want.
The containers also need a lot of space.
This makes it much easier to ship goods around the UK.

The world’s most expensive shipbuilders are building supertankers, which can carry up to 5,000 tonnes of cargo, and are also building super-helicopters, which are much smaller.
There are even plans to build super-cruisers, which would be smaller but much faster.
The new supertanker, for example, would be about the size of a large city bus.
The super-hull, which could carry up 100 people, would have to be specially designed.
But if all goes well, the new supercruisers will be ready in the 2020s.
A shipbuilding industry boom is a sign that the British are still the world leaders in building ships, says Evans.
It shows that the country is not only ready to continue building super tankers, superhelicops and super-ships, but is also building the infrastructure to create jobs and to generate revenue.
There’s also a boom at the sea, Evans adds.
There were about 50 million container ship traffic in 2016, up from just over 10 million in 2000, according to the International Maritime Organisation.
The British have had success building ships in the Mediterranean, for instance, and then bringing them to the UK for construction.
The boom in container shipping has also created an opportunity for other countries, especially in Asia, to develop their own containerisation projects, Evans explains.
