Construction companies are among the top earners in Australia, and they make an estimated $18 billion a year in revenue, according to a new study.
But how much do they actually earn?
A new study commissioned by the Australian Building and Construction Association (ABCA) looked at construction companies’ salaries and found that the median salary for a construction engineer is $120,000 per year.
But there’s no real official definition of a construction company, and it depends on where you work.
Read more”A lot of the companies that are hiring right now, are looking for engineers that can make $60,000-$70,000 a year,” ABCA’s general manager for building, Ben Dutton, told Business Insider.
“The reality is that a lot of them are looking to pay $120-130,000 and that’s a very small amount of money.”
The ABCA is one of the main sources of information on the wages of construction workers in Australia.
But it’s not the only one.
