Why is construction paper flowers costing more than the benchmark construction paper
BALTIMORE, MD—In a move that will likely set off a backlash among the general public, the U.S. government announced on Wednesday that construction paper flower prices will increase by $3.75 per square foot in the next fiscal year.
The Federal Budget Office (FBO) released a new budget estimate for fiscal year 2018 that would bring the average price of paper flowers to $11.90 per square inch, up from the $11 per square-foot price recorded in fiscal year 2017.
The price increase is part of a wider trend, which is also seen in the construction paper industry, with prices increasing by $1.30 per square meter, according to the FBO.
According to the report, the price increase in construction paper was the result of a decline in production costs, due to a drop in the number of applications for federal grant contracts.
The government expects the decline in application volumes in fiscal 2018 to remain low, as a result of new federal regulations that prohibit large-scale projects from being built in a single project.
Construction paper flowers have become an increasingly popular form of construction paper due to the availability of a wide variety of colors and designs that are both affordable and effective.
The average price per square yard for construction paper rose by $7.70 in fiscal 2017, and the price per acre rose by just $3, according the FBP.
